students gather on beach with education staff

Thank you to Homer News for the recent article here.

Thank you to the City of Homer and the Kenai Peninsula Borough for your letters of support, as well as KBNERR Community Council members and partners who have been advocating on behalf of KBNERR! We have secured our base federal funding for 2025. However, federal fiscal year 2026 is very concerning because the NERRs funding has been completely cut from the 2026 administrative budget.

We are urging friends and partners of the reserves to reach out to Members of Congress, State Legislators, and local leaders, urging them to support funding the NERRS in fiscal year 2026. Details here.

Please consider signing the National Estuarine Research Reserve support letter, and learn more about how to support the NERRs here: https://www.nerra.org/get-involved/
