Spencer Johnson records data while testing some summer field protocols

KBNERR Watershed researchers are preparing for a busy summer season. Spencer and Syverine recently tested a field protocol for assessing stream habitat to validate a geospatial model of beaver dam suitability. We will be visiting sites throughout the Kenai Peninsula lowlands this summer, and collecting habitat data, signs of recent beaver activity, and peatland depths to understand the interconnected ecosystem services of wetlands for fish and wildlife in our region.

The Ninilchik Traditional Council is hosting an internship in collaboration with KBNERR and Alaska Wildlife Alliance for this work, and the internship position posting is live! Please share widely.
