The Kachemak Bay NERR hosted two events to celebrate 25 years as a National Estuarine Research Reserve this September.

KBNERR co-hosted a Watershed Field Tour with the City of Homer and Kachemak Heritage Land Trust to celebrate the Reserve’s two decades of watershed ecology research and the Kachemak Drive Peatlands Water Quality Improvement Project (aka, ‘Kachemak Sponge’) during KBNERR’s 25th Anniversary Watershed Field Tour on September 20th, 2024. KBNERR secured a grant through NOAA’s  Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to enable the City of Homer to purchase lands for their stormwater management project, which uses nature-based solutions to manage stormwater.
